" the universe made itself " but---
by prologos inwatching the fertilization of an ovum and subsequent cell division it appears that the new being is making itself.

How Jehovah's Witnesses benefit those humble enough to study the Bible with them.
by Stand for Pure Worship inexcellent material can be found within the reasoning book, page 328, para.2, 3. occasionally, i see posters make presumptuous comments like, "all you need is the bible", or, "i'm born-again, so there's no need for spiritual assistance from another christian", or,"i'm saved", or my favorite, "jesus talks to me directly.
" on one hand, i can't be overly critical of such ones because they do attempt to read and understand the bible on their own.
(acts 17:11) not to mention they're generally peaceable folks, just self-misguided when erroneously believing that they can go it alone.

Others have suggested this is Miz (he had many aliases and has been kicked a few times) and was an ex JW elder if I remember right. I dont claim he is Miz, but I have seen others do it.... my point being here is this:
I will be very pissed off if it is him. I have seen people pretending to be JWs here before in some round about way to show how stupid JWs are or else just for shits and giggles.. I dont find that funny, I dont think it is productive, in fact it is counter productive.
Being an ex JW is about trust and credibility if IF your intention is to help others wake up and leave. Sensationalism (Rick Fearon) doesnt work, half truths and lies dont work, pretending to be a zealous JW in good standing to troll the forums doesnt work in the long run as trust is broken. By doing this you are lying to searching and lurking REAL JWs and allowing the WTS the victory of telling them apostates are liars.
Rant over.

Letter I wrote to the person the caused me to be disfellowshipped
by jwfacts ina thread on another forum reminded me of a letter i wrote to the person that went to the elders and started the proceedings to have me disfellowshipped.
i stopped believing in the religion when i was 25 but continued going for about ten years.
i finally started to fade at 35, but about 6 months after i had stopped going to meetings, a person wrote a letter to the elders about my website, which at the time was anonymous.

Is this 1pnt or one of the other end time loons come back again?
Hint, no one reads all your drivel, they scan until it's obvious you are nuts then stop reading. So save yourself a whole lot of time by not typing all that drivel. Your therapist or psychiatrist however WOULD be very interested in what you are saying.

Is it just me or has this site become a Believer/Atheist warzone?
by BU2B ini enjoy the odd thread about evoloution vs creation, etc but lately it seems that a large percentage of threads here devolve into fighting between atheists and theists and distract from what most of us here see eye to eye on, the wt and related things.
i wish things could be more civil here and fr people to realize that people will never see eye to eye on the topic.
it gets so tiring to see the contstant bickring and fighting on those threads.. they seem to go on page after page but very little of substance is discussed seeing as the existence or non existence of a god can be proven by anyone.

There seems to be a steady flow of newbies here just lately, who's to know if there would be more or less if there was less critical thinking going on here.
I dont like confrontation and meanness, but I cant stand arrogant stupidity and attention whores either. there are forum rules here and by and large they are adhered to, challenging poor thinking doesnt have to descend into ad hominem attacks no, but some posters like to bait others into doing it so they can cry foul.
What used to put e off when I 1st was lurking was the mentally ill fundies claiming to be Christ, or some sort of prophet, others were bitter and vindictive in their condemnation of the WTS and used terms and language that repelled and detracted from anything they had to say of value. Atheists generally were thought provoking and gave me a great deal to go away and double check.

A real difficult congregation???
by quellycatface inmyself and my family have had some odd experiences in our current congregation.
i have'nt been to meetings since september because of this.. 1. the co told the elder who was studying with my husband that he was doing it as an "academic exercise.
" my husband is very intelligent, been in the military, has a degree and a masters and a good job.

Well if you want to know the truth about JWs then you are at the right place here.
It's a cult, so try and avoid being sucked into it. I was born into it, baptised at 16 and quit age 41 after lots and lots of research.

Question for people more intelligent than me
by Monsieur indo we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.
or is this still an unexplained 'mystery'?.
i've read that the stones used to build these things are monolithic?.

How would you have built them? Slave labour is a fantastic resource if you have access to it ...
Also religious fervor is a great way of getting people to do dumb things.
As for the mechanics of it, then earth works are built and then removed after if you havent invented cranes yet.

When i was a loyal Jdub I hated the thought that there were fakers who didnt really believe any of it but just went through the motions for glory, friends or the social scene. We all knew some like this. They gave themselves away by their words and actions.
So if you go back for friendship and company and are found out expect your conditional friends to drop you like a steaming turd.
